Dan Zimmerman

President and CEO

As president of Dogfish Software, Dan Zimmerman drives company strategy and heads business development efforts. Previously,he was the Vice-President of Engineering for PhotoWorks — An American Greetings Company. For over 10 years, he led the engineering efforts to grow the business from an early internet start up in the digital photography sector to a leading e-commerce site.

Prior to PhotoWorks, Dan worked on the Core Technologies team at Adobe Systems, Inc. where he was responsible for delivering key technology components for all of Adobe's products and was a pivotal member of the PageMaker development team at Aldus Corporation. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University in New York.

A fanatical Mac enthusiast with an Apple wardrobe to match, a Boston Bruins fan, and a hobby farmer, Dan is also a night owl. This explains why he dislikes the sound of roosters.

Barbara Bree

Executive Vice President

As Executive Vice President, Barbara drives the operations and marketing efforts of Dogfish Software. Before joining Dogfish, she served as Director of Business Intelligence at PhotoWorks — An American Greetings Company. In her 4 years at PhotoWorks, her team was responsible for providing strategic information to drive key decisions across all aspects of the business; Incorporating industry leading data warehousing tools with third-party analytics to allow business users direct access to data to understand the customer and their needs.

Prior to PhotoWorks, Barbara spent 10 years as a Database Developer/Analyst at WRQ/Attachmate, supporting the sales, marketing, and finance teams through the ever-changing business software industry. Barbara grew up in Brooklyn and is a graduate of New York University with a degree in Computer Science.

Often seen with a Nikon in hand, Barbara enjoys photographing anyone who will let her. You may also find her listening to Leonard Cohen on one of Seattle's many gray days.

James Johnston

Project Manager

James has 10+ years consumer relations and project management experience, a track record of maintaining high standards of excellence and respected leadership skills. He carries a reputation for dedication, detail and a roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic. His philosophy is to blend strategic methodologies with a dash of innovation and a sprinkle of creativity.

Prior to joining Dogfish Software, James had a long tenure at PhotoWorks where he first started managing Customer Service, then transitioning to Project Manager after studying at the University of Washington. James has worked on partnership assignments for brand leaders such as MSN and REI. Most recently, he managed technical and marketing projects for the Digital Photography division of American Greetings Interactive.

James is a morning person and life-long Washington State resident who enjoys traveling to warmer climates, first rate music, and the awesomeness of organization.

Karen Meyers

Creative Director

With over 23 years of design experience, Karen has comprehensive experience managing award-winning teams. With a focus on user experience, branding and product design, she led design efforts in developing innovative product lines for photo books, cards and calendars, and winning the 'American In-house Design Award' for package design from Graphic Design USA.

Prior to joining Dogfish Software, Karen led the design team at PhotoWorks for 8+ years, helping to evolve the brand from a direct mail film processing business to a leading competitor in the online digital photography space.

When Karen isn't designing, this native New Yorker can be found running with her dogs, creating with stained glass or thinking about what it would be like to live in the time of Henry the 8th. She also does her part for the environment by riding her bike to work.

Jeff Sorrentino

App & Web Developer

Jeff graduated with a Computer Science degree from Stanford in 1994 and served in the US Navy for five years as a Nuclear Operations Officer. Post-military he returned to school for his Master's Degree and then moved to Seattle in 2001. Jeff spent several years working as a software consultant for companies such as Microsoft and Hewlett Packard before joining PhotoWorks in 2005 as an Applications Developer. In 2007, he became the manager and lead developer for the PhotoWorks applications and website team.

A mild-mannered fitness enthusiast, one of Jeff's proudest moments was completing an Ironman Triathlon in 2009. Already having traveled much of the world, he looks for a combination of natural beauty, recreation opportunities, and good cuisine when looking for a new destination.

Kurt Bosselman

Senior Developer

Kurt is a Senior Computer Scientist with over 20 years experience in the technology industry with exposure to multiple aspects of system development. This myriad of work includes conversions, maintenance, re-engineering, development, database design, system architecture and scalability. He most recently held the position of System Architect for PhotoWorks. Kurt received his degree from Willamette University in Math/Computer Science with a minor in Physics.

Kurt did not wait until retirement to hang up his Gone Fishin' sign. Any free time he has outside of spending time with his family and solving systems issues finds him packing up his gear and heading for the river. You'll never see a more excited dad than when he shared photos of his children's' first catch.

Julia Tolmacheva

Senior Developer

Julia began her career as a computer scientist at the Russian Academy of Science, developing imaging and data processing systems. Over her 20 years in the industry, she has expanded her technical expertise to include system design and architecture, database design, and API and HTML interface development, gaining experience working with cutting edge technologies in agile development environments.

As a Senior Computer Scientist at PhotoWorks, Julia worked on many projects from database architecture to web UI, recently helping to streamline the complex product release process for the e-commerce website, creating a toolset for business owners to bring products to the market more quickly. Prior to PhotoWorks, she spent time working for document management companies and as a consultant for several Seattle organizations. Julia graduated from St. Petersburg State University with a Masters in Applied Mathematics.

When, in the words of her daughter, she's not 'saving the world... again,' Julia enjoys traveling with her family and training her puppy not to eat M&M's.
